Cat Stevens won't speak to unvieled women.

Cat Steven's new name is Yusuf Islam (which is apparently the equivalent to "Joe Muslim.") Perhaps you remember him - he sang "Morning has Broken," "I'm Being Followed by a Moon Shadow (moon shadow, moon shadow)," "Another Saturday Night (and I ain't got nobody)" - I can't remember what else. I loved playing and singing his music in the 70's.

Now he is a Muslim. He received an award for building bridges between Islam and the West. While participating in the ceremonies around this award giving, he refused to look at or speak to his female guides because he does not speak to women other than his wife and/or because the female guides were not properly veiled. Hmmm. So, how does that build bridges?

What do you bet that it will soon become politically correct to only assign men to work with people of the Islamic faith? I mean, after all, we are such a tolerant society. We cannot expect Islamic leaders and celebrities to adjust to how we do things in the West, can we?

The FBI and Homeland Security Department last week sent out a bulletin to law enforcement across the country warning that Muslims with "ties to extremist groups" are signing up to be school bus drivers. They also noted "recent suspicious activity" by foreigners who drive school buses or are licensed to drive them.

Recent events come on top of several other school bus-related incidents involving Mideast men that raise suspicion of terror activity.

They include last year's surprise boarding of a school bus in Florida by two Saudi men dressed in trench coats. Authorities suspect they were making a dry run to see how easy it would be to hijack or blow up a school bus filled with American children.

Previously, an Arab man from Detroit was caught trying to obtain a job as a school bus driver in New York using fake Social Security documents.

Authorities fear the school massacre that took place in Beslan, Russia, in 2004 may be a dress rehearsal for what al-Qaida plans to do here. Chechen terrorists tied to al-Qaida seized a building in Beslan on the first day of school and slaughtered 338, including 172 kids.

Three years later, schools and local police in this country are still unprepared to deal with such an assault.

I don't know if this proves anything beyond a doubt, but it does make one think that this young man, troubled as he was, saw committing an act of jihad as a chance to be a hero and a martyr.

Ballots in Farsi??

Voters in the recent Beverly Hills city council elections had the choice of ballots in English, Spanish.....and Farsi?!? Why in the world do we need ballots printed in Farsi?

DC Gun Law Struck Down

DC has some of the most stringent anti gun laws in the country. It also has one of the highest homicide rates, with most of those homicides being committed with firearms.

A group of homeowners took the district to court, demanding their constitutional right to have handguns in their homes for the purpose of self-defense.

A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that the District's longtime ban on keeping handguns in homes is unconstitutional.

Needless to say, the mayor and city leaders are outraged. How dare people expect to be allowed to defend themselves against the armed thugs running amok in DC?!

What about "shall not be infringed" do these useless bureaucrats not understand?
