Just in case anyone is interested, the Florida Bahamas Synod voted today *not* to become a reconciling in Christ synod. Click on the title if you want to know what that means.
Also, my pastor stands a very good chance of becoming our next bishop of the FL synod. That I was not expecting!

Katie,
Glad to hear about the first, only slightly surprised to hear about the second. What are the details surrounding that?

Hey! It is so good to hear from you! I just e-mailed all your addresses I have, so let me know which one works and I can fill you in on what's been happening. I would love to hear what y'all are up to!
Kassie wants to know how Nathan is doing!
Wait, isn't RIC about welcoming homosexuals into congregations as fellow believers in Christ? Isn't that a good thing?
The ELCA states that "gay and lesbian people, as individuals created by God, are welcome to participate fully in the life of congregations of the ELCA."
Yes, the ELCA does say that. Why then do we need to become an RIC synod or congregation? Would it be to imply that we are in support of changing Visions and Expectations to support homosexual clergy who choose not to be chaste and to support the establishment of same-sex blessings in the ELCA? Then it becomes not a fairness issue or an issue of being nice and welcoming, but it becomes an issue of scriptural authority.
But I suspect you have heard all this before, hmm, Tom?
