DC Gun Law Struck Down

DC has some of the most stringent anti gun laws in the country. It also has one of the highest homicide rates, with most of those homicides being committed with firearms.

A group of homeowners took the district to court, demanding their constitutional right to have handguns in their homes for the purpose of self-defense.

A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that the District's longtime ban on keeping handguns in homes is unconstitutional.

Needless to say, the mayor and city leaders are outraged. How dare people expect to be allowed to defend themselves against the armed thugs running amok in DC?!

What about "shall not be infringed" do these useless bureaucrats not understand?

Hard to believe, isn't it? ;-)
Actually, after we became involed in shooting sports and went on to get our CCW's, we found that there are a number of folks in our congregation who support the second ammendment and enjoy various kinds of shooting. We have a paintball course at our retreat center, and there were those who objected to that type of activity because it involves shooting and "shooting is bad," but they were not able to convince the majority to ban paintballing out there.
