Evangelical Lutheran Worship - It's almost here!

ALPB has reviews and comments on the new ELW hymnal that will soon be released. I did find one poster's comment that "masculine references have been mysteriously raptured" quite humorous. I find the fact that some of us are going to be forced to use this resource and are even being condemned for not buying or donating a copy to be rather sad.

Click on the title for lots of info!

You need a "I will not submit to the ELW" T-shirt.

You cannot be made to use it, let alone buy it. I suspect most of your congregation doesn't know what they are getting. I hope that when they find out, they will object.
But you do know, so you are submitting.

Well, at least I am not submitting by paying for it!

Seriously, though, I have learned over the past year that my tilting at windmills over doctrine seems to have little result in my current situation. If I thought it would do any good, I would work very hard against our replacing the LBW with ELW. Unfortunately, not even a former synodical bishop of one of our predecessor denominations could get the powers that be to even consider not moving forward with the new hymnal. So I will just have to wait and see if the folks who are plopping down their $17.50 will realize they have bought a pig in a poke!

Trouble writes: "Many are praying for you and the situation that a "local congregation" is going through. :) "

Indeed!

Peace in the Lord!

Katie, check out voiceoftherockiesstore.com for good, sound Lutheran theology resources. It is an ELCA member who is publishing this stuff.

Hopefully others in the ELCA will wake up and not be dumb sheep following the flock.

There will be some good things in the new ELW, but the feminatzi de-gendering of lanugage makes this a non-theologically sound hymnal for Lutherans.

Mark Hansen's email is mark.hansen@elca.org
if you wish to blast that worthless bishop.

They run the ELCA like Enron and WorldCom and don't care about us out here. They need to get replaced with new people who care.

ELW is done all in the name of ecumenicalism? That is not what we Lutherans are supposed to be about. We are concentrating about what we are doing in worship with the liturgies, instead of what God does for us. We are not a global church, but made up of Danes, Swedes, Norwegians, Germans, Finns, and others who have jumped on board here in America. You cannot forget who you are. You want to be global, go to IHOP!

Funny, they say ELW is done "by the whole church for the whole church." Lie! Out of 10,689 churches, only 900 participated in this thing. Let's not lie to sell folks. They need to be stuffed with communion wafers until they cry uncle for what they are doing.
