Why does this make my skin crawl?

Click on the title to see information about a rather strange combination of speakers for a "Rethink Conference" to be held in January. I just can't envision this particular mix of beliefs and talents....

hi again

It makes your skin crawl because it rubs up against new age theology, or so I think,
Sorry to hear your leaving the ELCA, Where to?

There are several LCMS churches in our area that would be ok. I expect one of them is where we will go.

It's a difficult change because we have been at our church for almost 29 years. What is making it easier is that a lot of members have already left, so our "church family" has changed significantly so it's not like we are leaving our close friends. Most of our long time friends have already left or are church shopping. New friends don't understand the problem. ;-)

I have the same Issues, Salavtion, Repentance and freindship with God has become, if it feels good do it.

I am staying ELCA because when our pastor leaves who will take care of the flock? This is my fianl year (3) in Lay School and so the thing is if I can provide worship then I can proclaim Christ Crusified for our sins and repentance.

A reason I could not be LCMS is close communion, they would deney the Christ Communion.

But Katie God will lead you where he will lead you

God Bless

I've just reached the point where I cannot worship without gagging over something in the liturgy or something the pastor says that is off the wall. I stayed for a long time speaking out on the truth (as best I understand it), teaching Bible studies and even leading the second sexuality study. Unfortunately, things have changed drastically at our church and we are now very supportive of the direction of the ELCA. I have been called a "lover of the dead word" by my pastor and other things by other leaders. I have to believe that God has been speaking to me for a while and that he is leading me elsewhere. It doesn't seem that I can be anything but divisive in my current situation.

I agree with you on the issue of close(d) communion. Fortunately in Florida, it is not addressed in the same way as it is in the Midwest. What I have seen in most of the churches I have visited in FL and TN is a paragraph in the bulletin explaining communion and inviting those who agree to come to the table. I can live with that.
